Ledger® Live | Desktop Getting Started

Your secure path to crypto management and hardware wallet integration.

Welcome to Ledger Live Desktop

Ledger Live is the official desktop application that allows you to manage your crypto assets safely with your Ledger hardware wallet. Whether you’re setting up for the first time or upgrading your system, this guide walks you through every step — from installation to advanced security setup.

1. Download Ledger Live

Visit the official Ledger.com/start page to download the latest version of Ledger Live for your operating system — available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Always download from the official site to ensure authenticity and prevent phishing risks.

2. Install and Launch

Once downloaded, install Ledger Live following the on-screen instructions. Open the application, and you’ll be guided through an intuitive setup process. Choose between setting up a new Ledger device or connecting an existing one.

3. Connect Your Ledger Device

Connect your Ledger Nano X or Nano S Plus using the USB cable. The app will automatically detect your device. You’ll then be prompted to create or confirm your PIN and verify your recovery phrase — this step is critical for security.

4. Add Crypto Accounts

Ledger Live supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, and 5,000+ other assets. Go to “Accounts” and select “Add Account.” Once added, you can view your balances, send, and receive crypto, all secured by your Ledger device’s hardware encryption.

5. Keep Firmware and Ledger Live Updated

Ledger regularly releases updates to improve performance and security. Always update Ledger Live and your device firmware directly through the app to ensure optimal safety and functionality.

6. Stay Safe

Never share your 24-word recovery phrase with anyone. Ledger will never ask for it. For enhanced protection, bookmark Ledger.com/start as your official source for software downloads and setup instructions.
